Alan has practiced in many areas including hospital pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, academia, research, community pharmacy and patient advocacy. He works with health professionals in the hospital and community to overcome medication-related issues including offering dermatological and skin health consultations with patients. Working with a variety of stakeholders in health, he strives to develop solutions to close gaps in health care so that patients achieve optimal health outcomes and improved quality of life. As an advocate for patients and patient-centred care, Alan trains and educates healthcare students and patients on many therapeutic topics including dermatology. He has been an invited presenter at regional, national and international meetings as well as authored books and many scientific publications.

Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBC.  James received his undergraduate pharmacy degree at the University of British Columbia in 1982 and received his doctorate in pharmacy (Pharm.D.) in 1986 from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

He has had extensive experience, both locally and internat

Professor, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UBC.  James received his undergraduate pharmacy degree at the University of British Columbia in 1982 and received his doctorate in pharmacy (Pharm.D.) in 1986 from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

He has had extensive experience, both locally and internationally, talking to health professionals and consumers about the rational use of medication, and has presented over 500 seminars on drug therapy over the last 30 years.

He focuses on shared decision-making using evidence based information and rational therapeutic principles and he is also the co-host of a very popular weekly podcast called the Best Science (BS) Medicine podcast.

Specializing in head and neck surgery, Dr. Wu is dedicated to providing comprehensive care within the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. Sh
